About Us
The Madison mill, located on the Kennebec River in Madison, Maine, manufactures more than 220,000 tons per year of the highest quality lightweight SCA paper available in North America. Symmetry is the standard by which customers judge SC papers. It is known for its runability, print gloss, opacity, and uniform side-to-side sheet consistency.
Following a multimillion dollar investment in engineering and technology, Madison, a fully-dedicated, super-calendered paper manufacturer, pioneered many industry firsts. Known for its commitment to innovative technology, its focus on quality made Madison the first paper mill in North America to:
- Use Precipitated Calcium Carbonate to improve the opacity and printability of its paper
- Implement a first-of-its-kind automated roll wrapper to reduce waste of packing materials and better protect roll ends from transportation damage
- Feature precision steam finishing technology to create a glossier, more consistent surface
- Install a video-based flaw detection system to identify imperfections early in the process.
Many of Madison’s end-use customers and printers will attest to the dedication to quality of the 300 men and women at the Madison mill who make it one of the most productive mills in the state.
